Early Life and Background

Travis Scott was born Jacques Bermon Webster II on April 30, 1991 in Houston, Texas. His mother worked for Apple and his father ran his own business. Scott grew up in the suburbs of Houston and was introduced to music at a young age by his dad who was a soul musician. He formed a love for hip hop artists like Kid Cudi and Kanye West from a young age.

Early Music Career

Scott began his music career in 2008, releasing his first mixtape titled Owl Pharaoh in May 2013. He signed with Epic Records shortly after. He worked with many big names early in his career like Kanye West, Rihanna, Drake and others. His first full-length album Rodeo was released in September 2015.

Breakout Success with Antidote and Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight

Scott’s career took off with the release of his single “Antidote” in 2015, which reached the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His second album, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in September 2016. The album was supported by successful singles like “Goosebumps” featuring Kendrick Lamar.

Astroworld Album and Massive Success

Scott’s third studio album Astroworld was released in August 2018 and also debuted at number one, led by the mega-hit single “Sicko Mode” featuring Drake. He undertook a massively popular concert tour to support the album through 2019. Astroworld and its singles received multiple Grammy nominations.

Record Label and Feuds with Drake and Kylie Jenner Relationship

In late 2018, Scott launched his Cactus Jack record label, through which he signed artists like Sheck Wes. Around this time rumors swirled around his relationship with reality TV star Kylie Jenner, with whom he has two children. He has also been involved in some high-profile beefs with fellow artists like Drake.

Astroworld Tragedy and Aftermath

Tragedy struck at Scott’s iconic Astroworld music festival in November 2021 when a deadly crowd surge during his headlining set resulted in 10 deaths. In the aftermath, Scott faced major backlash and lawsuits over his alleged role in the lack of crowd control. He has since taken steps to address safety issues at future concerts.
